Germany's Giulia Gwinn has confessed to turning down a nude photoshoot with popular magazine Playboy
Bayern Munich star Giulia Gwinn has revealed that she turned down the chance to be on the cover of Playboy magazine after seeing how the move had panned out for other stars.

The Germany Women’s star, who was named best young layer at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, was one of the stars of the 2022 Women’s Euros, where DFB-Frauen finished as runners-up to England.
Gwinn revealed that while recovering from an ACL injury at the start of the year, she was approached by Playboy, whose Germany boss Florian Boitin said, “Giulia Gwinn is not only an outstanding athlete, but also a beautiful young woman, so a personality like her is naturally interesting for Playboy.”
Ultimately, she turned down the offer, choosing to focus on her injury recovery and hoping to be fit in time for the 2023 World Cup.
Gwinn hoping to avoid ‘Playboy curse’
Despite her best efforts, Gwinn was unable to regain fitness in time for the World Cup and missed out on the Germany squad to Australia and New Zealand, with manager Martina Voss-Tecklenburg claiming that dropping Gwinn was the “hardest decision” she had to make.
Gwinn’s decision to turn down Playboy, even though fellow German international Sophia Kleinherne accepted to do an interview with the magazine, is believed to have also been influenced by the outcomes of former national team players.
Five former Germany U-20 internationals, Annika Doppler, Kristina Gessat, Ivana Rudelic, Julia Simic and Selina Wagner, appeared on the cover of a Playboy magazine in 2011 and became outcasts of the national team with Simic’s club career also suffering the effects after a potential move to Manchester City reportedly fell through.
