Olympics champion Gabby Thomas is preparing for yet another successful season as she sets her sights on competing at the inaugural edition of Michael Johnson’s Grand Slam Track (GST) this April in Kingston, Jamaica.
The American sprinter will be participating in the 200m event which has attracted much followership across the globe.
Gabby Thomas had a stellar 2024 season that saw her dominate the Paris Olympics with three gold medals—in the 200m, 4x100m and 4x400m relays—Thomas has kicked off 2025 in impressive fashion.

"I have been to Kingston before and I'm, I'm really looking forward to going back. 'll have all of my family there to support me. Oh my God, my grandpa, aunts, cousins, like everyone who still lives there," said Gabby Thomas in a pre-event interview.
Thomas added Kingston race is not just another meeting on the calendar—it holds special meaning.
"No, actually this will be the first time. So I'm really, really excited for that."
Created by sprinting legend Michael Johnson, the GST aims to offer a fresh take on athletics by combining world-class competition with festival-like energy. Thomas, for one, is all in.
In a recent conversation with Flo Track, she explained how excited she is about the new format and what it could mean for the sport’s global appeal.
“This will give track and field the popularity it deserves,” she noted, calling the event a prime opportunity to go head-to-head with the fastest runners in the world.
