The Nigerian international has been linked with a return to Craven Cottage this January.
In-form Super Eagles striker Josh Maja is attracting interest from Premier League high-flyers Fulham following his impressive displays for Ligue 2 club FC Bordeaux.
Maja has been excellent in front of goal this season, with 11 goals and three assists in 19 league games. In addition, the Nigerian international also has one goal in three Coupe de France matches.
Europe's clubs battle for Maja's services
Maja’s performances have now gotten the attention of European clubs, with teams in Spain and England linked to his services.
Initially, Real Valladolid were reportedly leading the race to sign the 24-year-old after they were given the green light by club president and former Real Madrid forward Ronaldo.
However, it appears Valladolid are now behind in the queue after Fulham’s interest emerged. According to Girondins 33, The Cottagers are interested in bringing back Maja and are ready to trade another player for him.
With Jean Michael Seri set to complete a loan move to Bordeaux, Fulham are hoping to get Maja in return.
Maja could be heading back home
Maja is no stranger to Fulham, having played for the club in the second half of the 2020/2021 season following a six-month loan move from Bordeaux.
The former Sunderland striker also had a career with the club’s youth team in his formative years. Fulham are not the only English club interested in Maja, though, as West Ham and West Brom are also monitoring his future.
But all interested parties will have to pay a transfer fee to Bordeaux if they are to sign Maja, as the Nigerian international’s contract at Matmut Atlantique expires this summer.
Maja joined Bordeaux from Sunderland in January 2019, signing a three-and-a-half-year contract with the club.
