The tournament was held in 2018 and 2019 but was halted in the subsequent years due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

Startimes Uganda Premier League champions Vipers have been drawn to face BUL FC in the first round of the FUFA Super Eight Tournament.

The Super Eight Tournament is making a return after a four-year hiatus.

The competition serves as a precursor for the league and was relaunched Wednesday morning in a press briefing held at FUFA Complex in Mengo.

The tournament was held in 2018 and 2019 but was halted in the subsequent years due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

The competition has been revised to accommodate only the top eight teams from the previous season.

In the past, the top six UPL teams and the best two from the FUFA Big League took part in the competition.

In the quarter-final draws conducted on Wednesday, 2019 winners Vipers will start their campaign in a tricky away tie to face BUL.

Inaugural winners, KCCA FC will make the trip to Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium to take on Wakiso Giants.

URA FC will face Arua Hill SC, while Maroons FC will be at home against record league champions SC Villa.

Each of the eight teams taking part in this year’s edition will be guaranteed to play at least three games.

While the Winners at the quarter-final stage will proceed to the semis, the losers will still have games to play in determining different positions.

The teams that fall out at the quarters will play two classification games to determine positions 5-8.

The semi-final stage winners will advance to the final, while the losers will play a classification game to determine positions 3 and 4.

The final will be a one-leg affair played at a neutral ground. The tournament is expected to be played between August 4 and September 14.

Teams like KCCA and Vipers will have the opportunity to test some of their latest high-profile recruits in the competition before the start of the new season.
