The four newest entrants into the League, making the leap from the regional division, include the Kiyinda Boys, Young Elephant FC, Mbale Heroes, and Kigezi Homeboyz.
The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has rolled out the red carpet for the 15 clubs primed to compete in the upcoming FUFA Big League 2023/24 season.
The four newest entrants into the League, making the leap from the regional division, include the Kiyinda Boys, Young Elephant FC, Mbale Heroes, and Kigezi Homeboyz.
Each of these teams comes with a storied past and an ambition for a brighter future in Ugandan football.
Kiyinda Boys FC, who once entertained fans at the Ssaza grounds in Mityana during their stint in the Buganda Regional League, have now moved their home base to the Homisdallen School playground in Gayaza.
Meanwhile, Kabale Municipal Stadium is bracing itself for some Big League football as it houses the Kigezi Homeboyz.
Young Elephant FC will be thrilling its fan base from Anaka Primary School grounds in Lira. The Mbale Municipal Stadium isn't just a home for the Mbale Heroes; it will also be the ground where Kataka FC showcases its prowess.
Last season witnessed the relegation of Onduparaka FC and Blacks Power from the Uganda Premier League, but their quest for glory is far from over. They will be looking to leave an indelible mark in the Big League this time around.
“We had set the deadline for July 24, way back in April, stipulating clubs to meet certain prerequisites, including the submission of at least 18 approved players," a FUFA spokesperson was quoted saying.
It’s heartening to see most clubs fulfilling this requirement, showcasing their dedication and commitment to the game.”
This comes after the previous season, where Water FC was unable to fulfill the licensing requirements, leaving only 15 clubs in the second division.
Lugazi FC will be playing at the Lugazi Stadium. Jinja North United FC's home games will be at the Kyabazinga Stadium Bugembe. Ndejje University has chosen the Arena of Visions Ndejje.
Fans of Police FC can cheer for their team at the Kavumba Recreation grounds. Blacks Power will be hosting their games from the Aki Bua Stadium in Lira.
