The team aims at promotion to the Uganda Premier League in the forthcoming season.

Lugazi Football Club have unveiled striker Ssemugugu Samuel, who has become the tenth player to join the ranks ahead of the highly anticipated 2023/24 FUFA Big League season.

Ssemugugu, known for his relatively exciting goal-scoring ability in the lower leagues, has joined the team on a two-year contract until 2025, with an option for a third year.

”I am incredibly excited by this opportunity to turn that dream into a reality, and I am determined to repay the faith that the club has shown in me,” Ssemugugu told the club.

Previously, he plied his trade with the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) in the Buganda Regional League – the third tier of Uganda’s football.

In his first season (2020/21) with UWA, Ssemugugu netted an impressive 13 goals before adding 16 in the following campaign.

Last season with UWA, Ssemugugu achieved a stunning feat by bagging an astonishing 20 league goals, per the club statistics.

“It is still early in my career, but I know I am ready to step up and play with this group of world-class players," the attacker added.

Ssemugugu joins new signings: Ronald Ssempala, Alvin Burungi, James Okiror, Abraham Opio and Solomon Okodi.

The others are Freedom Mungudit, Mubarak Mitala, Andrew Odong and Samuel Nsubuga.

The team aims at promotion to the Uganda Premier League in the forthcoming season.

Last season in the Big League, they finished a respectable fifth, having garnered 44 points in 30 games, and feel topflight football is an achievable target next campaign.
