Chelsea's interest in Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is well-documented. After a deadline-day move failed to materialise, there have been reports that the club could return for the 25-year-old in January.
However, according to TBR Football, the Blues are doing homework on Bayer Leverkusen's Victor Boniface and have scouted him recently.
Boniface, 24, is viewed as a cheaper option and more suited to Maresca's style of play. He would also command a wage that aligns with the club's structure.
The Leverkusen man has scored 4 goals in 5 games for his club this season and is valued at 40 million Euros on Transfermarkt,
Meanwhile, Osimhen is expected to start for Galatasaray in their Europa League clash with PAOK.
The Super Eagles man is yet to score for his new club but has registered two assists.
