According to a report by dzfoot, the Algerian Football Federation has been impressed with Peseiro’s rising profile following a brilliant outing in the 34th AFCON.
The 63-year-old proved his critics wrong after taking Nigeria’s Super Eagles to the brink of a fourth AFCON glory.
However, he eventually came short after a Sebastien Haller stunning effort inspired the host nation to a 2-1 win in the final for their third AFCOn title.
Despite the heartbreak in the final, Peseiro has impressed the Algerian Federation with how well Nigeria performed in the tournament.
Per the report, the Super Eagles boss has now leapfrogged compatriot, Carlos Queiroz, has the man for the vacant managerial position in the Desert Foxes.
Peseiro is said to be the favoured man for the job after he caught the eye of the Algerian chiefs with his shrewd tactics and motivational skill during the impressive campaign.
His track record of nurturing youth talent also appeals to officials looking to blood the next generation, with new FAF president Walid Sadi believed to be driving the push for Peseiro, having been hugely impressed by his recent success and potential.
Direct talks are underway as Sadi aims to appoint a coach who can elevate Algeria to the next level., with Algerian fans craving a fresh start after AFCON heartbreak.
