The former Gor Mahia forward is coming off an impeccable season where he won the Qatar Stars League Golden Boot.

Without a doubt, Michael Olunga is one of the most sought-after forwards in the off-season transfer window with Greek giants Olympiacos Piraeus joining the host of clubs jostling for his signature.

The 29-year-old looks set to halt his two-year stay in Qatar with Al Duhail as his contract is scheduled to expire on Friday, June 30, and little talks of a contract expansion have been reported.

Olympiacos are looking to replace former Villarreal forward Cédric Bakambu who has joined the mass transfer to the well-moneyed Saudi Premier League where he is expected to join Al Nasr.

According to reports emanating from Greece, Olympiacos are looking to land the services of Olunga who posted mind-boggling statistics in the just concluded season.

“As it emerged from a report, Olympiacos is interested in him Michael Olunga who from the 2020-2021 season competes in Qatar with Al Duhail. Olunga he is Kenyan, 29 years old with a height of 1.93!

His numbers are impressive as in 192 matches in his career he has 154 goals and 25 assists. Of course, he has not played in any competitive league apart from the move he made from Girona in the 2017-2018 season, where he scored three goals with one assist in 16 games,” read an article from Hellas.postsen.

Transfermarkt have also revealed that Olympiacos is interested in Olunga alongside English Premier League side Everton with the Greek club having a 30 percent chance of signing him while the latter have a higher 43 percent chance.

As of now Brazilian giants Corinthians, Scottish side Rangers, and Turkish heavyweights Fenerbahçe, and Galatasaray have all been linked with the former Gor Mahia forward.

It is still not certain which club Olunga will join in the current transfer window but one certainty is that he will earn a bumper contract as he will join on the Bosman rule following the expiry of his contract.

This means that his next club will not spend on transfer fees which is bound to hand Olunga a hefty sign-on bonus.

Should he join Olympiacos he will link up with experienced players such as former Arsenal defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Mathieu Valbuena, James Rodriguez, Yann M'Vila, and former Liverpool midfielder Sergi Canós.

Olympiacos had a poor campaign by their lofty standards, finishing third meaning that they will miss a place in the Champions League next season and will have to enter the Europa Conference League qualifiers.
