Brazilian forward on Barcelona's books suffers an ankle injury.

Barcelona loanee at Real Betis Vitor Roque has suffered an injury after sustaining a blow to his ankle. His return date will be determined by the progression of the injury.

The 19-year-old was signed by Barcelona from Brazilian side Atletico Paranaense last summer. He joined the club in January, and despite the significant amount used to acquire his services, he failed to break into the side.

The Blaugrana sent him on loan this summer to Real Betis for the season, hoping he can rediscover himself; however, his development has now hit a snag after suffering an injury.

Roque’s injury

The Brazil star scored his debut in Real Betis’ 2-0 victory over Leganes, as he came off the bench to knock the ball into the net.

This earned him a start in the following two matches, including the 2-1 defeat to Mallorca, in which he suffered the blow that led to his injury.

As reported by Dario AS today, the Heliopolitans manager Manuel Pellegrini confirmed during a press conference that the young striker will not participate in the league match against Las Palmas tomorrow, as he has sustained an ankle injury.

“He had a strong blow to his ankle in the last game. Yesterday he already had greater pain, and the medical team are examining what injury it is,” Pellegrini told reporters.

Although he is not with the team this season, Roque is the latest Barcelona player to sustain an injury. The club's captain, Marc Andre Ter Stegen, was ruled out of the season after rupturing his patella tendon a few days ago, and he joined an already long list of layoffs from the Blaugrana, which includes: Ronald Araujo, Marc Bernal, Frenkie de Jong, Dani Olmo, Andreas Christensen, etc.
