Benni McCarthy: FKF boss provides update on South African legend's links to Harambee Stars job
The FKF official has shed light on the search for a new Harambee Stars coach after it was reported that South African legend Benni McCarthy has landed the job.
The tactician is keen to have a competitive team but feels technical ability alone is not enough as those selected must be of the right character given the demands that will be placed on their shoulders.
“The spirit is good, they are all professionals, been in this environment before and they know sometimes when you are invited to the training camp, it comes out with a lot of excitement but there is also the part of disappointment when we have to cut the squad,” Kimanzi told the media on Monday.
“Character is more important because we are heading out for a tournament. The resilience is there, every single player has it, but we have to look at the character to persevere when things are so difficult. Also, we have to look at balance which matters a lot.”

“Some of them it will be an opportunity to show us that can they maintain their positions but the others are all open.”
