Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate was the subject of criticsm from France fans when he arrived for international duty while dressed in outlandish fashion.

Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate has sparked a wave of criticism from France fans after arriving for international duty in a strikingly bright green hood that concealed his face.

The 25-year-old was spotted stepping out of his car at France’s training base on Monday, just ahead of their Nations League matches against Israel and Belgium.

As Konate approached waiting photographers, he playfully teased them, saying, “You don’t know who I am? Try to guess.” He then unzipped the hood to reveal his identity, drawing both laughter and raised eyebrows.

However, his fashion choice did not sit well with many supporters on social media. Fans quickly took to platforms like X (formerly Twitter) to express their discontent, arguing that players should prioritize professionalism over personal style.

One fan commented, “Stop. This is getting ridiculous. We simply need to stop talking about it and get back to football… what’s the priority? Fashion show or football match?”

Another supporter echoed similar sentiments, stating, “Maybe it’s time to go back to the old school style, French team uniform or mandatory suit. It’s getting ridiculous, especially since they suck on the pitch.”

A third frustrated fan lamented the decline in team image, saying, “We are far from the time of Sir Alex Ferguson, where seriousness was there. In his time the guy turned around and it was over. Now it’s a mess; the captain doesn’t come because these are not important matches visibly.”

Criticism continued with another supporter declaring, “We’re hitting rock bottom and it’s really starting to impact the image of the squad. Stop the carnage, FFF (French Football Federation), selection outfit imposed. This is not fashion week.”

A final fan emphasized the significance of tradition, stating, “The French team is an institution. There is an image to respect.”

As Konate prepares to don the blue jersey once more, he faces an uphill battle—not just on the pitch but also in winning back the favor of a fanbase that values tradition and professionalism.
