Gor Mahia now need to win their final match to win the 2022/23 Kenya Premier League title.
Former Uganda Cranes head coach Jonathan McKinstry is walking a tightrope after his Gor Mahia side failed to seal the Kenya Premier League title on Wednesday.
The coach reportedly survived an assault from angry fans as his Gor Mahia lost 3-2 to Kakamega on Wednesday in Nairobi.
The reigning Kenyan champions needed a win over Kakamega Homeboyz to wrap up the business, especially after their title rivals Tusker slipped to a 1-all draw but ended up losing the tie.

STARS ABROAD Kaddu, Ojok strike to take Gor Mahia-Tusker chase in the Kenya Premier League to the final day
Deogratius Ojok and Patrick Kaddu scored but their team's Tusker FC and Gor Mahia couldn't take advantage to win their games in the Kenya Premier League.
Uganda Cranes striker Patrick Kaddu put the team in the lead nine minutes into the game but McKinstry’s defence could not hold.
Homeboyz pulled one before the break, but Austin Odhiambo restored the gap shortly after the restart.
From there on, the visitors were more lethal, scoring two goals, including a Hillary Otieno winner in injury time.
The result, coupled with Tusker’s draw, means that Gor Mahia leads with 67 points, one ahead of Tusker and must now beat Nairobi City Stars on Sunday to be crowned champions.
Drama
The loss left the majority of Gor Mahia’s fans baying for Jonathan McKinstry’s blood as they called for his sacking.
Media reports indicate that the Irishman had to be whisked away from the chaos for his safety.
The club chairman Ambrose Rachier is reported to have told the angry mob that McKinstry will be booted out after the Sunday game.
Kakamega Homeboyz assistant coach Peter Atwenge has left nursing serious injuries after he was allegedly attacked by “sore-losing” Gor Mahia fans.
