Ex-AC Milan CEO and Vice President Adriano Galliani has asked for leniency towards Juventus following their indictment in the capital gains scandal that cost them a place in the Champions League next season

Former AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani has claimed that Juventus have suffered enough for their financial scandals after the Old Lady were docked 10 points following a ruling by an Italian appeal court.

Galliani was manager of AC Milan for 31 years between 1986 and 2017, overseeing some of the most successful periods in the history of the club with 29 titles in 31 years.

He was at the helm of the club’s affairs when they won five of their seven UEFA Champions League titles, making him a legendary figure at the Rossoneri.

However, he also saw the team’s incredible decline before a sale to new owners in 2017 and left his post as vice president of the club at the time.

Currently serving as CEO of Monza, which is also owned by former Milan chief Silvio Berlusconi, Galliani has been able to help the club grow from the third division to a mid-table Serie A side in five short seasons, proving his mettle once again.

Galliani pleads for mercy in Juventus case

Recently, the veteran football administrator has spoken about his former rivals, Juventus, who were involved in a financial scandal where they were convicted of augmenting capital gains to appear more profitable than they were.

Despite years of rivalry, Galliani showed pity for the Old Lady and disagreed with people saying Juventus should be punished further for their financial irregularities. According to the former Milan chief, Juventus have suffered enough with the points deduction and do not need further sanctions meted out to them.

Speaking to Il Cittadino, Galliani said, “I think Juve have paid enough, seeing as without the points penalty they would’ve been in the Champions League, but instead were bumped down to seventh.”

Monza completed an incredible double over Juventus in Serie A in their first campaign in the top flight to complete a brilliant season.
