Former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Barry Otieno has announced his candidature for the federation's top seat following his resignation as CEO.
Otieno's recent resignation from his CEO position, which he cited as a response to work-related pressure, surprised many.
His five-year stint as CEO, which began in 2019 came to an abrupt end on October 7 with Otieno stepping down.
However, rumors had long circulated about his intentions to pursue the top role at Kandanda House.
The former FKF CEO has since confirmed those rumors to be true with his latest move, gunning fo the Federation's top seat.

A controversial social media post following Barry Otieno's resignation as FKF CEO exposes internal tensions within the organization.
"I wish to announce my candidacy for the presidency of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF). After serving as the federation’s General Secretary/Chief Executive Officer for the past five years, I have decided to take this step with a vision to elevate Kenyan football to new heights," said Otieno in press release seen by Pulse Sports.
"My commitment and vision are simple, to build a stronger, more inclusive, and more successful footballing nation, by developing football beyond the pitch."

FKF name new CEO to replace departed Barry Otieno
Football Kenya Federation has settled on experienced administrator and former journalist Patrick Korir to replace Barry Otieno as CEO on an interim basis.
The former CEO has since been replaced by interim CEO Patrick Korir who assumed office on October 9.
Otieno enters a fiercely contested FKF election that has so far attracted ttracted interest from former Kenyan Premier League CEO Jack Oguda, ex-FKF NEC member for Nyanza Tom Alila, Extreme Sports CEO Hussein Mohammed, Gor Mahia secretary general Sam Ochola and most recently Kakamega Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Shimanyula, former Gor Mahia player Sammy 'Kempes' Owino among others.
