Former AFC Leopards goalkeeper Ezekiel Owade departs Muhoroni Youth, leaving the club with a goalkeeper crisis amid struggles in the league.

Former AFC Leopards goalkeeper Ezekiel Owade has announced his departure from Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Muhoroni Youth.

Owade, who joined the club at the beginning of the 2022/2023 season, played a crucial role in helping Muhoroni Youth retain their league status during the playoffs.

However, it appears that personal reasons have led to his decision to terminate his contract with the club.

"I wanted to inform you all that I have terminated my contract with Muhoroni Youths due to my personal reasons. I wish them the best in the future," Owade announced, shedding light on his decision to part ways with the club.

At the start of last season, Owade arrived at the club with high hopes and made significant contributions to secure the team's position in the Premier League.

Nevertheless, as time passed, Owade found himself falling out of favor and struggling to secure a regular spot in the starting lineup, with Tom Muthomi taking precedence in goalkeeping duties.

The departure of Owade adds to the club's woes, leaving them with a goalkeeper crisis as they approach the upcoming transfer window in January.

Muthomi, who had been keeping Owade out of the starting lineup, remains an option for Muhoroni Youth.

However, the club also has Michael Kagiri, another goalkeeper on their roster, who has yet to make a single appearance this season.

Kagiri, who played a pivotal role in guiding Kitara FC back to the Uganda Premier League last season, is currently on a six-month deal with the club.

His inclusion in the team could be a potential solution to the goalkeeper predicament, but it remains to be seen if he can fill the void left by Owade's departure effectively.

The goalkeeper situation at Muhoroni Youth is now a cause for concern, as they will need to find new goalkeepers when the next transfer window opens in January.

Muhoroni Youth currently find themselves in a precarious 17th position on the league table, having managed to accumulate just eight points from 11 matches.

The success of the club's future matches and their battle to climb up the league table will heavily depend on how they address this issue.
