Manchester City winger Phil Foden has returned to the UK from the England national team camp.

The English FA have confirmed that Manchester City star Phil Foden has temporarily left camp and immediately returned to the UK due to pressing family issues.

The 23-year-old is the Premier League MVP for the 2023/14 season and has been an integral member of Gareth Southgate's side, now in the round of 16 of the European Championships.

He started all group-stage games for the Three Lions but has left the English camp in Germany due to unspecified family reasons.

FA Statement

Less than a day after winning Group C with a draw against Slovenia, the English FA put out a statement announcing that Foden had left the England camp due to family reasons.

"Phil Foden has temporarily left the England camp and returned to the UK for a pressing family matter,” the statement from the FA read, per the Mirror.

According to the BBC's Dan Roan, the “pressing family issue” referenced in the FA’s statement is the birth of his third child. Per the report, he is expected to return to Germany and rejoin the squad on Sunday.
