Two of the table-toppers in Kenya Police and Gor Mahia take on Mathare United and Bidco United respectively as the title race begins to take shape.

FKF Premier League champions Gor Mahia will look to narrow the gap at the summit when they face Bidco United on Thursday at Machakos Stadium.

The record champions are eager to return to winning ways after a goalless stalemate against Tusker FC in their previous outing at the same venue on Sunday.

Sinisa Mihic’s charges dominated their clash against the Brewers but failed to find the breakthrough, settling for a draw in a fiercely contested title race.

With Kenya Police leading the standings and Tusker FC in second, K’Ogalo cannot afford further slip-ups.

The Croatian tactician remains unbeaten since taking charge, securing a 2-1 victory in his debut match, followed by Sunday’s draw.

Mihic will be keen to guide his side past Bidco United to maintain pressure on the league leaders.

However, Gor Mahia have struggled in front of goal, lacking the clinical edge to finish off games.

With Police widening the gap in their previous outing, the defending champions must secure maximum points to stay in contention.

A win on Thursday will take them within one point of second-placed Tusker, who sit on 39 points and are not scheduled for a fixture this matchweek.

Bidco United, currently languishing in the relegation zone, will be out to frustrate Gor Mahia.

They are winless in their last five league matches and sit 17th with a mere 18 points, only ahead of bottom-placed Nairobi City Stars on goal difference.

Desperate for a turnaround, Bidco will look to capitalize on any weaknesses in Gor Mahia’s play.

Mathare United vs Kenya Police

Elsewhere, at Dandora Stadium, Mathare United will host table-toppers Kenya Police, who are enjoying an impressive 13-match unbeaten run dating back to December 2024.

Coach Etienne Ndayiragije’s side currently leads the standings with 41 points, having extended their advantage on Saturday with a 2-0 win over Bidco United.

That victory saw them pull away from Tusker FC, who had previously been level on points with them.

With Gor Mahia and Tusker still in pursuit, Kenya Police will be determined to secure another win against Mathare to solidify their grip at the top and create further breathing space.

Mathare United, meanwhile, are in a precarious position. Without a win in their last fixture, they sit just a point above the relegation zone in 15th place with 22 points.

A positive result against the high-flying league leaders would be crucial in their battle for survival.

With the FKF Premier League heating up, all eyes will be on these crucial fixtures as the title race and relegation battle continue to unfold.
