Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno grabs first win as interim coach as Gor Mahia return to winning ways against Kakamega Homeboyz.

Gor Mahia returned to winning ways on Wednesday afternoon after they dispatched Kakamega Homeboyz 1-0 in an FKF Premier League clash that took place at the Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Wednesday afternoon.

Tusker FC continued their impressive form with a 2-1 victory over Mara Sugar at Dandora Stadium in a match that delivered early drama and intense action throughout.

Gor Mahia end winless streak with convincing victory

Under interim coach Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno, the defending champions displayed renewed vigor and tactical discipline.

The breakthrough came in the 33rd minute when Boniface Omondi latched onto Rooney Onyango's precise cross to score Gor Mahia's first league goal since early November. Despite sustained pressure from Homeboyz, Gor Mahia held firm, with goalkeeper Gad Matthews playing a crucial role in thwarting the visitors' sporadic attacks.

The turning point came in the 79th minute when Homeboyz’s Salim Murunga was controversially sent off for a last-man foul on Samuel Kapen.

Although Ronney Onyango missed the resulting free kick, the numerical advantage allowed Gor Mahia to press further. Substitute Bryson Wangai sealed the victory deep into stoppage time with a brilliant solo effort, much to the delight of the K’Ogalo faithful.

Tusker FC edge Mara Sugar in thriller

Meanwhile, Tusker continued their resurgence with a thrilling 2-1 win over Mara Sugar at Dandora Stadium. Shaphan Oyugi wasted no time, scoring a stunning goal straight from kick-off after a fluid attacking move.

Mara Sugar quickly responded in the 7th minute through Meshack Karani, who capitalized on a goalmouth scramble. Tusker, however, dominated proceedings, with Shaphan and Ryan Ogam coming agonizingly close to restoring their lead before halftime.

The breakthrough came early in the second half when Ogam showcased his strength and composure, firing home his seventh goal of the season. Tusker’s relentless attack created several more opportunities, but Mara Sugar’s goalkeeper stood tall, ensuring a nervy finish.

Tusker’s victory solidifies their position as early contenders, while Mara Sugar will look to bounce back after their spirited performance.
