After months of anticipation FKF has adopted a revised electoral code setting the stage for a highly anticipated presidential election.
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) General Assembly has made significant strides towards the upcoming federation elections by passing a revised electoral code.
This key event occurred on Saturday, August 24, during a Special General Meeting (SGM)held at a Nairobi hotel.
The assembly approved slight modifications to the 2020 electoral code, now requiring presidential candidates to have been actively involved in football matters for the last two years, a reduction from the previous three-year requirement.

“I’m happy that we have started the journey to the elections, as the time for the current office bearers is almost over. I’m also happy that we have those few amendments; you have seen I had written raising a lot more concerns but at least some have been addressed," expressed Charles Gacheru of Tusker FC, who proposed the amendment after various concerns were voiced by members such as Luthers Mokua and Murang’a SEAL chairman Robert Macharia as per Citizen.
Additionally, the assembly ratified the formation of a new Electoral Board tasked with overseeing the upcoming elections.

FKF Electoral Code runs into headwinds ahead of SGM intended to adopt it
A section of FKF delegates have expressed reservations over certain clauses of the Electoral Code which they deem not designed for free and fair polls ahead of a Special General Meeting.
The board is composed of five members: Hesbon Owilla, James Waindi, Alfred Ngang’a, Dan Mule, and Marceline Sande, with Farida Lucia Juma and Robert Akumu Asembo serving as standby members.
Hussein Mohammed, the Vice Chairman of Murang’a SEAL, noted his satisfaction with the proceedings.
“I’m happy, at least today you see me here, remember last time I could not be allowed. We have essentially started in earnest the journey towards the elections, which for me is very important. I thank all the delegates for the progress made. We have a big duty ahead of us and I want to believe we will get there,” he remarked, confirming his intention to announce his candidacy for the presidency on August 28.
The general assembly's decisions reflect a collective effort to ensure that the federation's electoral process is transparent and inclusive.

The General Assembly was well-attended, with 89 delegates present, representing the 45 FKF Branches, 18 FKF Premier League, 10 FKF National Super League, 3 FKF Women Premier League, 2 FKF Women National Super League, and 10 FKF Division One League teams.
