K'Ogalo are gearing for a second straight win against hard-to-beat Mara Sugar and bank on solid defense and a worrisome attack

Gor Mahia stand-in coach Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno believes his chargers will execute a tactical masterclass against Mara Sugar in order to bag maximum points in an FKF Premier League clash.

The match on November 30 at the Raila Odinga Stadium, Siaya County, provides an opportunity for K'Ogalo to climb up the table with a win and cement their status as the 21-time champions chase another gong.

"The upcoming match is a chance for Gor Mahia to solidify their position, to prove their mettle, to show the world that the Green Army is a force to be reckoned with,” Zico said

“I believe a solid defensive unit and a clinical attack will be the key to securing a positive result,” he added.

The Green Army returned to winning ways in the mid-week clash following their 2-0 victory against Kakamega Homeboyz. Gor Mahia had gone four matches without a win, an outcome that led to unrest and eventual sacking of Brazilian manager Leonardo Neiva.

Zico, the former Kenyan international, maintained that victory over Homeboyz was a confidence booster and the clean sheet further highlighted the team's solid defending.

"The victory over Kakamega Homeboyz gave us a boost of confidence going into the upcoming fixture after a string of unimpressive outcomes. The players showcased their tactical discipline and defensive solidity, and we hope to carry this to our next match."

Their opponents, Mara Sugar, the surprise package so far if their second position on the log is anything to go by, are not pushovers either. The Kajiado-based side is one of the four teams to have conceded the fewest goals in the division and play as a collective unit despite not boasting big names like their opponents.

The George Midenyo-coached side have lost just twice and their four wins and as many draws have catapulted them to 16 points-four behind leaders KCB.
