Kenya is scheduled to face Burundi later on in the month.
Harambee Stars head coach Engin Fırat jettisoned into the country on Wednesday morning ahead of Kenya’s back-to-back friendlies against Burundi.
The 52-year-old left the country back in December 2021 to head to his native Turkey after his initial three-month contract had elapsed.
Kenya are scheduled to face Burundi on Saturday 25 and Tuesday 28 March in friendlies during the first FIFA international break of the year.
This will be the first time that Harambee Stars take to the field since November 2021 when they beat Rwanda 2-1 in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Kenya has been serving a FIFA suspension for government interference in the sport after former Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed disbanded the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) for misappropriation of funds.
Back in January Firat was handed a new three-year contract to take charge of Harambee Stars after FIFA lifted the suspension back in November 2022.
Firat’s first assignment will be to assemble a squad for the Burundi friendlies with the team expected to pitch residential camp on Friday 17 March.
It is not yet clear whether Firat will retain his technical bench that included Kariobangi Sharks head coach William Muluya and former Sofapaka tactician Ken Odhiambo.
