Chukuwemeka Obioma scored his second brace of the season as the People's Elephants secured an important win at home.
Enyimba's head coach George Finidi has showered praises on his team for their outstanding performance in the first half of their 2-0 victory over El-Kanemi Warriors on Sunday.
After losing 1-0 to Remo Stars in their midweek fixture, the People's Elephant got back to Aba, and back on track as a brace from Emeka Obioma gave them their third win of the season.
For Obioma, the brace meant that he had now gone joint tops on the NPFL scorers chart with four goals.
Enyimba boss happy with side's performance
Reacting after the win, a relieved Finidi stated that he was glad his side prevented El Kanemi from having any edge in the second half.
“It’s always good to score in the first half, you know in the Nigerian league, if you don’t score in the first half, the opponents will start using delay tactics or whatever can be done to achieve the result,” Finidi told Enyimbafc.net.
“But when you score, they will come out more. We could have won the game with more goals, but we didn’t take our chances.
“At the end of the day, we won 2-0 and I’m happy with our performance. Two goals and three points.”
Enyimba to play Gombe United next
At the moment, the Aba club sit in third on the Group A log - behind leading Bendel Insurance and second-placed Remo Stars, with 10 points from a possible 18.
They will in their next fixture, take on Gombe United - who are currently unbeaten in four matches at the Pantami Stadium, on February 12.
