Club officials are praying for an all clear for at least one venue to host preliminary rounds of CAF Inter Clubs.
Kenya’s representatives to the CAF Inter Clubs Competitions Gor Mahia and Kakamega Homeboyz are holding their breath as Confederation of African Football inspectors from Egypt jet into the country next week to conduct another round of assessment.
None of the sporting arenas in the country attained the required levels by FIFA standards according to the last inspection report filed in 2022. That effectively locks Kenya out of hosting any competitive international fixtures.

“Kasarani had very few issues to sort in order to get the necessary certification so hopefully they can find it worthy of hosting even the preliminary rounds. I believe all that is required for Kasarani to attain this status is the installation of immovable seats in the VIP and VVIP sections and a ramp for broadcast camera.” Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Shimanyula said
“This should not be a cause for denial of hosting status although it is something the government should have easily done. If they installed all the other seats in three week this should take them a few days,” added the vocal administrator

STADIA Sports Kenya reveal why CAF banned Kasarani, Nyayo as renovation tender calls are floated
The two facilities in Nairobi alongside Eldoret’s Kipchoge Keino are set for a major facelift in readiness for the 2027 tournament if EAC Pamoja Bid is successful.
The two clubs would very much want to host their home games in the country to capitalize on home soil support and the revenue windfall that such big fixtures bring.
Gor Mahia already cancelled a four-team international tournament they had planned to host owing to unavailability of both Nyayo and Kasarani. K’Ogalo were hoping to play Azam of Tanzania, Vipers of Uganda and Rayon Sport of Rwanda.
The Kenyan champions will instead fly out to Kigali to play Rayon Sports on 5th of August.
