Uganda Cranes have maintained their dominance in the CECAFA region in the latest ranking released on June 29 by the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA).
However, the Cranes registered a decline following a string of disappointing performances in the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.
In the latest rankings, the Cranes are ranked 92nd globally. This represents a decline from the 89th position the team has held since April 6, 2023.
The current rankings also mean Uganda will be pitted in pot three of the Confederation of Africa Football qualifiers for next month's 2026 FIFA World Cup draws.
In the CECAFA region, Uganda takes the top position beating Kenya (102), AFCON group opponent Tanzania (123), Rwanda (139), Burundi (140) and South Sudan (168).
Algeria's perfect run in the AFCON qualifiers boasted the Desert Foxes ranking 33rd in the world and fourth on the continent. Morocco tops the African rankings, followed by Senegal and Tunisia.
Globally, Argentina is number one, followed by France and Brazil.
