The Super Eagles dropped in the latest FIFA rankings released this month but are ahead of Ghana and Cameroon.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles dropped in April’s FIFA rankings released on Thursday. The Super Eagles were previously ranked 35th in the world but have now dropped five places to 40th.
The drop should not come as a surprise as the Super Eagles were unimpressive in the last international break.
Nigeria suffer the consequences of Guinea-Bissau result
Nigeria lost one of their doubleheader Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Guinea-Bissau last month.
As a result, Nigeria’s ranking suffered, dropping five places and losing 13.52 points. The drop also affected the Super Eagles’ position on the African continent.
The three-time African champions are now sixth on the continent behind, with Egypt and Algeria overtaking them.
However, despite dropping to sixth, Nigeria are still ahead of their arch-rivals Ghana and Cameroon.
