The Cameroonian FA has announced that interim coach Martin Ndtoungou Mpile will reveal the squad for their upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers against Cape Verde and Angola amidst leadership wrangles.

In a more dramatic turn of events, the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) has announced that interim coach Martin Ndtoungou Mpile will reveal the squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers against Cape Verde and Angola on Thursday at 11 am.

This announcement comes despite embattled coach Marc Brys having already named and summoned a squad several days earlier.

The decision to have Mpile announce the squad highlights the ongoing crisis within Cameroonian football, which has intensified following the disappointing performance of the national team at the recent Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) in Ivory Coast.

The tension reached new heights after Sports Minister Narcisse Mouelle Kombi appointed Marc Brys as the new coach in April, a move that did not sit well with Fecafoot President Samuel Eto'o.

The conflict between Eto'o and Brys culminated on May 28 during a tumultuous meeting at Fecafoot headquarters. What began as a seemingly cordial session quickly escalated when Eto'o clashed with Cyrille Tollo, the sports minister's technical advisor.

Eto'o's demand for Tollo's expulsion from the meeting underscored the strained relations. "Call security and throw him out! This is the last time, understood?" Eto'o reportedly exclaimed.

Eto'o further pressured Brys, questioning his loyalty and criticizing his decisions. The confrontation led to Brys leaving the room, prompting Eto'o to call for an Emergency Committee meeting to resolve the crisis.

This committee, tasked with making crucial decisions, will determine the next steps for Cameroon's national team ahead of the World Cup qualifiers.

In light of the missed working session between Eto'o and Brys, the Emergency Committee's swift intervention is critical. The football community in Cameroon is now focused on Tsinga, eagerly anticipating the outcomes of the committee's deliberations.

The leadership turmoil has left the national team's future in flux, with Ndtoungou Mpile's role as interim coach now taking center stage. The announcement of the squad by Mpile is seen as a temporary measure amid the ongoing power struggle between Eto'o and Brys.

Cameroon's football fans and stakeholders hope that the Emergency Committee's decisions will bring stability and clear direction to the national team as they prepare for the crucial World Cup qualifiers.

The unfolding drama within Cameroonian football continues to capture the nation's attention, with hopes pinned on the Emergency Committee to navigate the crisis effectively and ensure the team's preparedness for the upcoming qualifiers.

The upcoming matches against Cape Verde and Angola will be a significant test for the team and its leadership, as they strive to secure their place in the 2026 World Cup.
