Arsenal and Manchester City have been charged by the FA for misconduct against the referees that happened in their clash on Wednesday.
The English FA have charged Manchester City and Arsenal for the misconduct of their players in their matchup on Wednesday night.
Arsenal and Manchester City are currently the top two teams on the Premier League log, hence their match two days ago contained heated moments, some of which have been flagged as inappropriate and subsequently led them to be charged.
FA charges Arsenal and Manchester City
Sky Sports reports today that the FA have charged Manchester City and Arsenal for the conduct of their players in their last Premier League game.
The two clubs have been charged for their conduct, which saw them surround the referee and his assistants at multiple points during the game. Manchester City players were said to have illegally surrounded the referee in the 42nd and 64th minutes of the game, while Arsenal players erred similarly in the early stages of the second half.
Both clubs have been charged for failing to ensure their players maintained good conduct and have until Tuesday, October 17th, to respond to the charges.
The heated encounter
Going into the game, Arsenal were at the top of the Premier League table and had a three-point lead over second-placed Manchester City. A win for Arsenal would have seen them open up a six-point gap at the top, while Manchester City's win took them level on points with Arsenal but ahead on the league table on goal difference.
Manchester City went ahead first, but Arsenal equalised from the penalty spot before a double in the second-half helped Pep Guardiola's side win. The huge consequences at the end of a victory or a defeat created a charged atmosphere, with both parties feeling aggrieved by the referees.
