The Bandari hierarchy has explained why they opted to approach Harambee Stars assistant coach Ken Odhiambo for a second tenure as head coach of the Coastal based side.
Odhiambo was officially unveiled in Mombasa on Thursday, with Dockers CEO Tony Kibwana expressing confidence in Odhiambo's ability to lead the team to new heights.
Kibwana praised Odhiambo, describing him as the ideal candidate to help Bandari FC achieve their primary goal of winning the league title next season and competing in continental football in the future.
Despite a long-standing interest in Robert Matano, Odhiambo was ultimately chosen due to his impressive coaching pedigree and recent accomplishments.

Three go to High Court seeking to bar Sports Fund from financing FKF
The three individuals have filed a petition to the High Court arguing that FKF remains an illegal entity following its initial disbandment in 2021.
"Ken Odhiambo is the perfect choice to lead us in our quest for the Premier League title, the FKF Cup, and success in CAF competitions," said Kibwana during the presentation in a press conference.
"His experience with the national U23 team in COSAFA and as the assistant coach of the senior national team makes him an excellent fit for our aspirations."
The decision to appoint Odhiambo follows extensive scrutiny and deliberation aimed at enhancing the team's performance, satisfying the fans, and meeting the expectations of their corporate sponsor, Kenya Ports Authority.
Kibwana also confirmed that John Baraza, who lacks a CAF A license required to coach top-flight football, will now serve as the assistant coach.

Baraza, who has a B license, tried unsuccessfully to acquire his A license, but will be hoping he can get another in the forthcoming days.
"John Baraza will support Ken Odhiambo as the assistant coach, alongside goalkeeping coach Jerim Onyango, Team Manager Douglas Mutua, and other technical staff," Kibwana stated.
Odhiambo expressed his enthusiasm for returning to Bandari FC and outlined his short-term and long-term goals for the team.
"Bandari is a great team with the potential to be the best. In the short term, I aim to win matches, and my long-term goal is to establish the team on the continental stage," he said.
He emphasized the importance of unity within the team, both on and off the field, and plans to introduce new training methods to enhance player performance.
"I will ensure we are united as a team and bring in new training techniques to help the players improve," Odhiambo concluded.
Odhiambo last coached Bandari during the 2020/2021 FKFPL season before joining Sofapaka.
