Exciting Junior Starlets wonderkid Marion Serenge has revealed the position she believes they can finish at the upcoming FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, further revealing her career targets.

Junior Starlets wonderkid Marion Serenge has set her ambitions high ahead of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

As Kenya prepares to make its mark on the global stage, Serenge believes that her team has what it takes to reach the semifinals of the prestigious tournament, which will take place from October 16 to November 3 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Serenge, an exceptionally talented forward, sees the World Cup as not only an opportunity to shine but also as a stepping stone towards her ultimate goal of securing a contract with a European club.

“It’s a very nice opportunity for me to land a club in Europe, which has been my dream. Many scouts will watch us play, and I will give it my all,” she expressed in an interview with Citizen TV

Despite her personal aspirations, Serenge remains equally focused on her team’s success. Confident in the abilities of her fellow Junior Starlets, she revealed the squad’s ambitions for the tournament.

“As a team, we are very much focused, and we are aiming to reach the semifinals,” she said. The belief and drive within the squad are palpable, and Serenge is determined to help her team achieve their goal.

Her father, Fred Serenge, who has supported her journey both as a parent and coach, shares in her optimism. He takes pride in her accomplishments and has high hopes for her future.

“This is a big inspiration to me as a parent and coach. I believe my daughter will do a wonderful job in the Dominican Republic and land a club in Europe. I will be happier seeing her going professional, and it will act as a big boost to her career,” he stated.

The Junior Starlets are in the final stages of preparation for the World Cup, currently holding a pre-tournament training camp in Alicante, Spain. As part of their preparations, the team has scheduled several crucial friendly matches to fine-tune their tactics and build match sharpness.

They are set to play Valencia CF Women on September 25, followed by matches against Portugal on September 27 and Intercity on September 30.

These friendly matches are vital as the Junior Starlets gear up for their first group-stage match on October 18, where they will face a formidable England side. Their other group matches will see them take on Korea DPR on October 20, before completing their group-stage fixtures against Mexico on October 24.

Kenya’s journey to the World Cup was a thrilling one, with the Junior Starlets sealing their qualification in emphatic fashion. They secured their spot with a dominant 5-0 aggregate victory over Burundi in the final qualification round, a performance that raised expectations for their World Cup campaign.

As Kenya embarks on their World Cup adventure, all eyes will be on Serenge and the Junior Starlets, who are ready to defy the odds and make history on the global stage.
