A former Nigerian international has offered advice for the Super Falcons after the team's early elimination from the women's football competition at the Paris Olympics.

The Super Falcons lost to Brazil and Spain and also lost 3-1 to Japan in the last group-stage game, failing to earn a single victory.

Randy Waldrum's team scored just one goal during the three games, a fantastic effort by Jennifer Echegini while conceding five goals.

In light of this result, Friday Ekpo highlighted that the team needs to get back together and focus on two important areas.

According to Complete Sports, Ekpo said, “After this tournament, I think the team needs better preparation and the introduction of young players in the Super Falcons.

“We should accept the reality that the team is out of the Olympic Games and focus on helping them have a better showing at the 2025 WAFCON.”

Ekpo also emphasised the significance of keeping an eye on upcoming competitions, especially the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which would take place in Morocco the following year.

The team has won the African Continental Championship eleven times, making them well-known for their dominance in the competition.

Despite their Olympic disappointment, the Super Falcons will be looking to focus on the next big competition which is the WAFCON tournament
