Tyler Young impressed his father during his professional debut, earning him praise beyond his family.

Tyler Young, the son of former Manchester United captain Ashley Young, made a noteworthy entrance into professional football during the club's 2-0 EFL Trophy victory over Stevenage on Friday.

The 18-year-old showcased his potential with a dynamic performance, earning himself a nomination for Man of the Match.

Introduced in the final 30 minutes, Young quickly caught the attention of fans and coaches. His energetic display, combined with a composed demeanour, proved crucial as Peterborough secured the win.

Joining him on the pitch was fellow debutant David Kamara, who also received praise for his efforts, further highlighting the promising talent emerging at the club.

Tyler’s journey to Peterborough began over the summer after his release from Arsenal’s academy, where he spent a significant portion of his youth career.

Following a successful trial, he signed with Peterborough, and this debut marks a significant milestone in his young career.

Having been on the bench for Peterborough's recent League One defeat to Wigan Athletic, Tyler’s official first-team appearance was a moment to cherish.

Reflecting on his debut, Tyler expressed a mix of excitement and nerves but emphasised that he treated the match like any other game. "It was a great experience," he said.

"I was ready to go when the gaffer called me. Even with the weather delay, I stayed focused." He credited teammates Archie Collins and Manny Fernandez for their guidance, which helped him acclimate to the pressures of first-team football.

Ashley Young, who has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the Premier League, took to social media to celebrate his son's achievement, posting pictures of the match with a heartfelt message: "Proud doesn’t even begin to explain this moment for you. Congrats on your debut, son, and hopefully many more to come."

Fans have also responded positively, praising Tyler's performance and speculating about his potential future in the sport.

With regular midfielders suspended and injured, Tyler may find himself in contention for more first-team opportunities in the upcoming League One match against Rotherham United.
