Ajax's hunt for a new manager has hit another stumbling block after the former Chelsea manager decided against making a move to the Eredivisie giants

Former Chelsea boss Graham Potter has reportedly declined an enticing offer to take the helm at Ajax, despite being out of a job since his departure from the Blues in April 2023.

Ajax keen on Potter

The Dutch giants are in search of a new head coach following Maurice Steijn's departure and had set their sights on Potter as a potential candidate to lead the squad in the 2024/25 season.

Despite Ajax's keen interest and admiration for Potter, the 48-year-old Englishman ultimately decided against the move, deeming the current project at Ajax unsuitable for him, leaving Ajax continuing their search for a permanent manager after appointing John van’t Schip in an interim capacity.

Potter reportedly eyeing Manchester United chance

Since his departure from Chelsea in April 2023 Potter has received numerous opportunities to return to management, with Ajax being one of the clubs eager to secure his services.

Despite the interest from multiple clubs, Potter seems determined to hold out for the perfect job to return to management after his embarrassing exit from Chelsea.

Potter is reportedly waiting for an opportunity to work with Manchester United after being linked to the job at Old Trafford amidst current manager Erik Ten Hag’s uncertain future.
