What you need to know about the top scorers in Europe's traditional top five leagues led by Erling Haaland, Artem Dovbyk etc.

As the curtain falls on another gripping season across Europe's top five leagues, the race for the coveted Golden Boot award has produced a stellar cast of gunmen led by Erling Haaland, Artem Dovbyk and Kylian Mbappe.

From historic title triumphs to record-breaking individual exploits, these gunmen have etched their names into the annals of football folklore.

Premier League: Erling Haaland (27 goals)

In a season where Manchester City rewrote the history books by becoming the first team to win four consecutive Premier League titles, Haaland's relentless goalscoring ability proved instrumental again.

The Norwegian sensation's 27 strikes fired the Citizens to an unprecedented era of domestic dominance despite a close chase from a spirited Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

While the 22-year-old failed to reach the heights of last season which saw him shatter every available record en route to 36 goals in the PL, his tally proves that he is the man to beat in the EPL.

LaLiga: Artem Dovbyk (24 goals)

Girona's fairytale campaign was fueled by the Ukrainian hitman Dovbyk, whose 24 goals propelled the surprise package to a historic top-three finish and a maiden UEFA Champions League qualification.

A remarkable achievement for the Spanish underdogs who came close to causing an upset only Atletico Madrid have managed in recent years.

However, Dovbyk will be consoled with the fact he has become the first player outside Real Madrid and Barcelona to win the Pchichi since the 2008/2009 campaign.

Serie A: Lautaro Martinez (24 goals)

Lautaro Martinez's lethal touch in front of goal was the driving force behind Inter Milan's Serie A triumph.

The Argentine marksman dethroned Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen to emerge top scorer while his Inter ensured Napoli endured a season and title defence to forget.

Martinez’s 24 goals were pivotal in the Nerazzurri's title charge in what turned out to be an excellent Serie A campaign.

Bundesliga: Harry Kane (36 goals)

While Harry Kane shattered individual records with a staggering 36 goals in his debut season for Bayern Munich, the England captain's exploits were not enough to inspire the German giants to any silverware.

Alongside Girona’s superstar Dovbyk, Kane stands as the only Golden Boot winner on this list without a team trophy to show for his efforts.

The Harry Kane curse? Well, after such a tally that saw him finish as Europe's top gunman, it is one question that the EURO 2024-bound England skipper may have to answer soonest.

Ligue 1: Kylian Mbappe (27 goals)

Talk about leaving on a high! 2018 FIFA World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe bid farewell to Paris Saint-Germain in style.

Mbappe clinched the Ligue 1 Golden Boot with 27 goals while leading the French giants to a domestic double.

With his contract expiring, the French superstar is widely expected to join Real Madrid this summer after confirming his decision to leave PSG, capping off a remarkable stint in the capital.

As these sharpshooting gunmen bask in their glory, the game's grandest stages beckon, where they will undoubtedly continue to write their names in the annals of European football history.
