Manchester City star Erling Halaand has been thrown into mourning following the passing of his 'uncle' who was an important figure in his family.

Erling Haaland is in mourning following the death of Ivar Eggja, a cherished family friend who passed away at the age of 59.

Eggja, who was affectionately known as 'Uncle' by Haaland, played a pivotal role in the footballer's life, including serving as the best man at his father Alf-Inge Haaland’s wedding.

Haaland shared his sorrow on Instagram, writing: "You are a legend, Ivar. Words cannot describe how much you meant to me! Words cannot describe how much you will be missed! I don't give a s***! I don't give a s***! That's exactly what I'm going to do. Thank you for everything, you madman. We will see each other again. Rest in peace, Ivar."

Eggja, who was deeply embedded in the Haaland family’s life, was known for his unwavering support and dedication.

He assisted Haaland in moving into his apartment when the striker joined Manchester City in 2022 and had a similar role when Haaland played for Red Bull Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund.

Eggja's behind-the-scenes efforts were crucial, often ensuring that Haaland’s living arrangements were settled so that he could focus on his football career.

Beyond his support for Haaland, Eggja was a prominent figure in the community, having opened and managed several businesses.

His impact was not only felt by Haaland but also by his family, including his children Fabian, Felix, and Ine. Ine Eggja expressed the profound loss on Facebook, describing her father as "the superhero of our lives."
