Manchester United's injury situation worsened with Sergio Reguilon and Lisandro Martinez both placed on the sidelines.

The Red Devils will be without Martinez after being ruled out for a long period on Friday afternoon with a foot injury.

Lisandro suffered an injury during the defeat to Arsenal, before coming back to participate in the losses to Bayern Munich and Brighton.

Ten Hag has now confirmed that Lisandro Martinez and Reguilon will be absent for an extended period of time due to injury.

Man United's statement on injury crisis

According to the Man United club statement, The Argentine defender suffered a setback in our Premier League match against Arsenal earlier this month.

Man United's statement as reported by the Mirror, "Martinez bravely continued playing for the following two games against Brighton & Hove Albion and Bayern Munich.

“But it has now been determined that he needs a period on the sidelines for recovery and rehabilitation.

"Assessment is ongoing to decide next steps. Everyone at Manchester United sends Lisandro our best wishes and looks forward to him coming back as soon as possible."

Martinez didn't play in the victory over Burnley on Saturday; Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof took his place.

Due to the Argentine's absence, Evans will now play for Ten Hag's team for an extended period of time.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils have also confirmed that Reguilon has also sustained an injury that has dealt United a further blow.

According to reports, he is also set to be on the sideline for a long time and might not return until after next month's international break.

Reguilon was only brought in on loan in the summer due to injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

His recent injury has now left United without a senior left-back for their next Premier League fixtures.
