Tusker FC striker Eric Kapaito has given his feelings after finally getting on target for the brewers since singing for the club at the start of this season

Tusker striker Eric Kapaito is now confident of a great run in front of goal after scoring his first goal for the club since singing before the start of this campaign.

Kapaito put in a man of the match performance as he scored twice and provided an assist in Tusker’s 3-2 win over Bidco United in an FKF Premier League in Murang’a on Wednesday.

Kapaito opened his Tusker account after 15 minutes when he finished off Mike Oduor’s pass before he chested the ball down for Shapan Siwa to make it 2-0 and he then completed his brace from the penalty spot to give the brewers a three-goal lead before the break.

Even though Peter Nzuki pulled one back for a 3-1 lead in favour of Tusker at halftime before Ezekiel Okare scored a second for Bidco in the second half, Robert Matano’s men held on to claim all three points to return to winning ways and the former Kariobangi Sharks striker feels he is now ready to kick on after ending his drought.

“It is a great feeling, first goal of the season and for Tusker. I thank God, I have been working hard. I believed in the team and the coach believed in me and it has come,” said Kapaito.

“We need to push ourselves in our next game against Nzoia Sugar to get three points. The team comes first so three points then those other goals will come with time.

“It is a great thing to score, it gives me the morale heading into the next game and I am sure the coach will continue working the way he has been and everything will be okay.”

It has been a difficult run for Kapaito who was expected to hit the ground running after joining Tusker as a free agent from Ethiopian side Arba Minch.

The forward’s goal drought has coincided with Tusker’s poor start to the campaign as this was just their fifth win in 14 games which leaves them 11th on the table with 19 points, nine behind leaders Gor Mahia.

Matano has, however, kept faith with Kapaito even during his difficult spell which points to the confidence the coach has in the striker and he will be hoping to repay that with further goals in Tusker’s upcoming matches.
