Harry Kane is set to make his 100th appearance and has his eyes fixed on 100 goals for England

Harry Kane is on the brink of another significant achievement in his illustrious international career as England prepare to take on Finland at Wembley Stadium.

Kane, who is poised to earn his 100th cap for the Three Lions on Tuesday, has set his sights on reaching a century of international goals, adding another chapter to his storied legacy.

Having secured his 99th cap in England’s 2-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday, Kane is now focused on leading his team to a second Nations League win in as many matches.

The 31-year-old striker, who has already surpassed Wayne Rooney as England’s all-time top scorer, currently boasts 66 international goals. His first goal for England came in a 2015 match against Lithuania, and since then, he has established himself as a vital figure for both club and country.

Kane's ambitions extend beyond just reaching his 100th cap. He is determined to add a century of international goals to his resume, a feat that would place him among the elite in global football.

Reflecting on his goalscoring record, Kane acknowledged the challenge but expressed his unwavering commitment to achieving this milestone. "Yeah. What is it, 34 goals (to go)?" Kane said when asked about his target. "One hundred caps have come around so quickly, especially with the number of major tournaments we’ve played in recently."

Despite his impressive tally, Kane has faced criticism for his performances at Euro 2024, where he struggled to replicate his prolific form from his debut season at Bayern Munich.

Nevertheless, he remains resolute in his pursuit of further goals, highlighting the ever-increasing standards set by contemporary footballing greats like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Kane’s consistent performance has earned him a gold cap, which will be awarded to him on the Wembley pitch before kick-off against Finland.

This milestone marks a significant moment in his career, as he becomes the first England player to reach 100 appearances since Rooney achieved the feat in 2014.

The England number nine is aware of the high expectations and competition he faces but remains focused on maintaining his exceptional record. "To consistently play at a high level is really difficult," Kane said. "That’s why I have so much respect for Ronaldo, Messi, and these players."
