Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has bemoaned his team's performance in the Carabao Cup defeat to Arsenal.

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner was left frustrated after his team's 3-2 loss to Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.

Despite taking the lead through Jean-Philippe Mateta and scoring a late goal through Eddie Nketiah, Palace were unable to overcome Gabriel Jesus' hat-trick.

Glasner felt that his team showed Arsenal too much respect, particularly in the first half.

"It was a perfect start but we needed a performance on our top level. We have to be honest: it was not a performance on our top level."

Glasner was critical of his team's cautious approach, saying:

"In the first half we played with too much respect [for Arsenal]. We lost the ball too easily, played too slow, didn’t demand the ball."

He also felt that Palace gave Arsenal too many chances, particularly in the second half.

"They had too many chances in the second half, we gave them too many chances. Then it’s just a question of time when they will score. We made too many mistakes. We were a bit too cautious."

Both teams will renew hostilities in the Premier League this weekend as Arsenal travel to Selhurst Park aiming to keep pace with Liverpool and Chelsea at the top of the table.
