The brewers hope to heal the pain of last season by wrestling back the Premier League title from champions Gor Mahia

Tusker FC are back for their preseason training ahead of the 2023-24 campaign as they look to banish the disappointments of last season when they finished second in the league and FKF Cup.

The brewers were on course to making it three Premier League titles in a row before letting it slip in the final three games of the season with Gor Mahia claiming it by just one point over them and any hopes of wiping off their tears a with the FKF Cup went up in smoke when Kakamega Homeboyz beat them in the final a week later.

With the squad now back in training, the club hopes for good tidings in the coming campaign.

“Dusting the disappointment off, setting the pace for the new season. The boys have started arriving in time for our pre-season, with week one commencing today,” Tusker said via a social media post on Monday.

However, uncertainty still remains on whether Robert Matano will still be their coach next season following reports that the club is looking at various candidates who could replace him.

The brewers have not announced any new signing so far even though a number of players have been linked to the club.

Tusker have been linked with Mara Sugar forward Victor Ngume while they are also reportedly interested in Sofapaka midfielder Ben Stanley Omondi as well as Homeboyz hit man Moses Shumah.

The brewers have also lost a number of players in the offseason with defender Kevin Monyi, midfielder Shami Kibwana and Jackson Macharia among those whose contracts have expired.

Tusker will begin their league campaign with a tough match away to Bandari on August 26. Bandari ended the 2022-23 season on top form after going eight games unbeaten, recording six wins and two draws.
