The Harambee Starlets midfielder needed little time to settle at her new club as she announced her arrival with a bang.

Harambee Starlets midfielder Cynthia Shilwatso had a debut to remember for Ukrainian women’s top division side ZFC Kryvbas as she grabbed a hat-trick in their 13-0 demolition of EMS Podil.

Shilwatso, who linked up with the club just last week, needed no time to settle as she opened her Kryvbas account on the stroke of halftime, doubling her side’s lead after Dayana Semkiv had given them a ninth-minute lead.

The midfielder then made it 3-0 eight minutes after the break, with Iryna Kochneva making it 4-0 four minutes later. Polina Yanchuk extended the visitors’ lead with the Kenyan international completing her hat-trick shortly after as ZFC Kryvbas recorded the huge win.

Victory left ZFC Kryvbas second on the 12-team table on 51 points and they are now guaranteed the runners-up slot which will see them enter in the qualification round of the Women’s UEFA Champions League.

Shilwatso made her belated move to Ukraine last week after her one-and-a-half-year deal, signed in March, had been held up due to logistical challenges owing to the current political unrest in the country.

The player joined Kryvbas from Fountain Gate Princess in the Tanzania Women’s Premier League where she was among the league’s top scorer, having notched nine goals while providing four assists in 10 appearances.

Before her stint in Tanzania, Shilwatso had her first experience in Europe with EDF Logrooo B in the Spanish second division where she reached the 2019-20 Spanish Cup final in her first season.

The midfielder won three successive Football Kenya Federation Women’s Premier League titles (2017, 2018, 2019) with Vihiga Queens. Shilwatso has made 21 appearances for Starlets, scoring 12 goals.
