Bruno Fernandes defends the comments he made after the Manchester Derby, claiming it was not about Ronaldo.

Bruno Fernandes took to Instagram to defend his 'we look like a team now' comment he made after Manchester United's win against Manchester City, claiming it was not an attack on Cristiano Ronaldo. 

Ronaldo left Manchester United on controversial terms a few weeks ago. Bruno Fernandes' comments were suggested to be about saying 'good riddance' to his compatriot, but the midfielder has come out to clear the air.

Bruno Fernandes spoke to BT Sport after Manchester United's derby win against Manchester City.

"I said before the game we look like a team now," Bruno said to BT after the match, per the BBC.

Some time ago, sometimes each one of us was looking for ourselves. Now you see a proper team playing for each other."

The comments were construed to be a hit at Cristiano Ronaldo.

Bruno clears the air

Bruno Fernandes took to his Instagram to clear the air, pointing out that his comments were not an attack on his national team captain.  

"Don't use my name to try to attack Cristiano," Bruno said on his Instagram.

"Cristiano was part of our team for half of the season, and as I said in many interviews, everyone since Liverpool is being amazing, and acting like a proper team and you can see the results on that. We carry on."

Manchester United are now third in the Premier League, only two points behind second-place Manchester City.
