Shujaa are on the brink of relegation and need improved performances to preserve their core status.

The national men’s rugby sevens side, Shujaa are staring down the barrel of relegation but have a lifeline in the relegation/promotion playoff slated for this weekend in the London Sevens.

Kenya 7s have posted nightmare performances this season which saw them finish the 13th on the 15-team log which is the bracket for the relegation play off.

The series was structured so that at the end of the penultimate event in Toulouse, the 15th-ranked team (Japan) will be automatically relegated to the 2024 Challenger Series.

The 12th to 14th-ranked teams will face off against the Challenger Series 2023 winner for the final position in the 2024 World Series.

Kenya is now set to face Uruguay who earned promotion to the series this season, an in-form Canada and Challenger Series champions Tonga in the promotion/relegation play-off.

The four nations will play the other three teams once with two matches lined up on Saturday, May 20, and one on Sunday.

After the round-robin, the top two ranked teams will meet on Sunday evening, in a one-game winner-takes-all match to decide who will be the 12th and final core team next season.

Canada have picked up form at the right time as they finished fourth in Toulouse, losing to hosts France in the Bronze final.

Uruguay have been blowing hot and cold this season and reached the Main Cup quarter-finals in the Singapore leg before being beaten in the 9th-place semis against Fiji.
