“Having agreed to terminate my contract, am grateful for my time at a big team in Express FC Uganda,” Shabena revealed through his social media channels ahead of the move.
“The success we reached was worth it all, being crowned with SUPL and Kagame Cup. With big memories, I will live to remember home...best wishes in the future,” he added.
Shabena now joins Mbale Heroes under the tutelage of experienced tactician Asaph Mwebaze.

He would later play for BUL FC before making the move to the Red Eagles in 2019.
Shabena played in the CAF Champions League Preliminaries for Express and was part of coach Wasswa Bbosa’s 2021 UPL title-winning squad, and will add that experience to the Heroes squad.
