Uganda Cranes legend Dennis Masinde Onyango has made a plea to the country to give new head coach Paul Put Joseph to build a stout future team.

With Uganda, along with Kenya and Tanzania, set to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, Onyango is optimistic the team will be better should Put be given the patience and chance.
"The most important thing is for the fans to give the coach a chance because there's something we're building as a country," Onyango told Pulse Sports in an interview.

Uganda Cranes midfielder Khalid Aucho played 90 minutes for Yanga but couldn't quite help them to a better result.
"And most importantly, the PAMOJA Bid has to be represented very well in the next few years, and we can't be chopping and changing coaches every two years."
According to Onyango, it will be important for the team's stability and unity if the coaching staff is uninterrupted.
"So, the boys have to be stable with one coach. We give him a chance because he has been with strong international teams, which means he's been doing a great job."
