Tusker could not hang on to their slender advantage as Kafero came off the bench to net the equalising goal for Ulinzi Stars to help them share the spoils with the Brewers on Wednesday afternoon.

In a closely contested FKF Premier League match on Wednesday afternoon at the Police Sacco Stadium, Ulinzi Stars fought back to secure a 1-1 draw against Tusker, thanks to a debut goal from substitute Bryan Kafero.

Kafero, who was introduced by Ulinzi coach Danstun Nyaudo at halftime, wasted no time in making his presence felt. Just two minutes after stepping onto the pitch, he found the back of the net to level the score for the Soldiers, rescuing a point in what had been a challenging encounter.

The match began with both teams searching for an early advantage. In the 7th minute, Tusker’s Shaphan Siwa set up Mike Madoya on the right wing, but Madoya’s attempt, sliced with the outside of his boot, sailed wide.

Ulinzi had a golden opportunity in the 12th minute on a counter-attack, but the final header went over the bar, leaving the score deadlocked.

In the 35th minute, Tusker looked poised to take the lead when Yakeen Joseph’s brilliant cross found Boniface Muchiri inside the box. His shot was handled by Ulinzi’s James Odhiambo, resulting in a penalty. However, much to Ulinzi’s relief, Tusker’s Lawrence Simiyu fired his spot-kick over the crossbar, squandering the chance.

Tusker’s breakthrough finally came in the 40th minute. Shaphan once again played a pivotal role, setting up his captain, David Momanyi, who struck a brilliant effort into the net from close range to give the Brewers a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

The second half saw the introduction of Kafero, and it didn't take long for him to make an impact. In the 49th minute, the debutant latched onto a pass and calmly slotted home, bringing Ulinzi Stars level at 1-1.

Despite both teams pushing for a winner, the match ended in a stalemate, with Ulinzi extending their unbeaten run but still searching for a decisive victory.

Kafero’s debut will surely be a memorable one, as his timely goal ensured Ulinzi left with a hard-earned point against a strong Tusker side.
