Harambee Stars player David Odoyo has credited his midfield partnership with teammate Chris Erambo for the maiden national team call-up he has earned.

Tusker FC midfielder David Odoyo has credited his maiden Harambee Stars call-up to team-mate Chris Erambo after being selected for Kenya's crucial double-header Africa Cup against Cameroon.

Odoyo has been a key man for the Brewers, developing a partnership with Chris Erambo in middle of the park.

The former Division One player with Green Commandos has credited his midfield partner for aiding in his national team call-up.

"Playing with (Chris) Erambo has brought about a good partnership and we understand each other on the pitch," Odoyo told Passion Sports.

"Every time he kept pushing me to join him in the national team. I'm really happy that have joined my mate there (national team). I hope we continue to play together because we have good chemistry and we understand each other so well."

Erambo has become a regular name in the national team since his breakthrough season from National Super League, making his Harambee Stars debut against Malawi.

"I know what we can do together. Through him I have worked hard and made it to the national team," added Odoyo.

Odoyo joined Tusker in September 2022, making his debut in December of that year as he proceeded to establish a key relationship in the middle of the park for Tusker with Erambo who joined the Brewers at the start of the 2023/24 season.

The duo steered Tusker to second place finish last season as they now place sixth on the log with five points having played four games, won one, drawn two and lost one.
