Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea could see a move to Real Madrid fail to materialise the second time with new Carlo Ancelotti claim.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has suggested that Andriy Lunin, who played backup to Thibaut Courtois last season, could fill the Belgian's boots this season, despite reports linking former Manchester United man David de Gea to Los Merengues.
As Pulse Sports reported previously, the Real Madrid starting goalkeeper ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament and is set to miss a huge chunk of the season.

De Gea linked with Real Madrid
Despite winning the Golden Glove last season, Manchester United failed to renew the contract of their Spanish goalkeeper, opting for a younger Andre Onana, who is viewed as very fit for Erik ten Hag's system.
The former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper is now a free agent and is actively linked with a move back to the Spanish capital, eight years after a faulty fax machine prevented him from the dream move.
However, following Real Madrid's Italian boss' recent statement, there is a possibility the record Champions League winners will pass on the chance to sign De Gea.

What Ancelotti said
The former AC Milan boss was unavoidably asked about the Copa del Rey holders' goalkeeper situation in today's press conference ahead of their league opener against Athletic Club on Saturday.
According to Channels TV, he revealed that he has total confidence in Ukrainian shot-stopper Lunin, who deputised for Courtois last season, playing 12 games, including seven in LaLiga.
“We have total confidence in Lunin, who is a great goalkeeper,” the Real Madrid boss said.
“He’s been very good during pre-season. He’s talented, and what he lacks is what all young players lack — experience, the experience he’s going to gain day by day.”
The Ukrainian let in an average of slightly over a goal in every game he played (13 goals in 12 games), despite keeping four clean sheets, but Ancelotti claims to trust him.

The Italian did, however, leave the door open to a possible addition to the position, saying: “We still have time until August 31. We’ll see in the next few days if we’re going to recruit another goalkeeper, to make up the numbers, because we count on Lunin.”
