Al-Hilal’s CEO Esteve Caldaza, has reacted to claims that the Saudi club could sign Cristiano Ronaldo for a showdown with Lionel Messi next summer.

Saudi Pro League champions Al Hilal are gearing up to participate in the inaugural edition of the expanded FIFA Club World Cup in the summer of 2025.

The team will face stiff competition in Group H, going up against Real Madrid, FC Salzburg, and Pachuca.

Recently, rumors have been circulating about a possible move by Al-Hilal to sign Cristiano Ronaldo for one last showdown against Lionel Messi's Inter Miami who are also competing in next summer's tournament.

When asked about the possibility of Ronaldo joining the team, Caldaza told GiveMeSport (via Fabrizio Romano):

"That sounds like science fiction. CR7 is not our player so it's difficult to comment on that.

He's not a free agent now, it's not nice to talk about that."

The prospect of Ronaldo and Messi facing off again is an exciting one. January 2023 was the last time we saw Ronaldo and Messi go head-to-head when Paris Saint-German faced off against the Riyadh All Stars.

The French team won 5-4 with Messi netting the first and Ronaldo scoring a brace.
