SC Villa are high in gear for the forthcoming season and took on Uganda Cranes in a preseason friendly match at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, on Wednesday.

With the two sides holding separate aspirations, the game ended in a one-all stalemate.

While Denis Omedi netted for the Cranes, Kenneth Semakula scored in his own net to leave matters level after 90 minutes, to the satisfaction of Villa head coach Dusan Stojanovic.

It was a one-all stalemate between SC Villa and Cranes

"To play against the national team means playing against the very best we have here," he told the media after the game.

"We competed well and showed our quality against them, and that's important going into the season for the team."

"Of course, the Cranes had the best players in the country and the game wasn't expected to be any easier, but like I've said, we matched them well," Stojanovic added.

Villa managed to lock Uganda Cranes in a draw

The Jogoo finished third in the Uganda Premier League last season with 53 points, just one adrift of eventual winners Vipers SC.

They will, this time, hope to lift the league for the first time in twenty years, as their last came in the 2003/04 season.
